Pet accidents, illnesses, and emergencies are a scary and unfortunate fact of pet ownership. We understand how upsetting it can be when your pet is experiencing an emergency and you are not quite sure what to do.

SIGNS YOUR PET NEEDS URGENT MEDICAL CARE

  • Choking or having difficulty breathing
  • Hit by a car or suffered blunt-force trauma of any kind
  • Ingested a foreign object such as a toy, sock, or string
  • Ingested something poisonous
  • Profuse bleeding
  • Inability to move or stand
  • Unusually warm or cold
  • Having a seizure
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Excessive vomiting and/or severe diarrhea
  • Blood in stool
  • Unable to pass stool or urinate

Today we brought our 9 year old bunny, Gus, to Dr. Martin for a routine check-up. The staff was amazing with what is considered an “exotic animal”. I highly recommend Vickery Place Animal Hospital! Despite having other practices closer to our home, our pugs get all their veterinary care at VPAH because of the quality care they receive there. We always receive good communication from the veterinarians and vet techs, who have treated some serious conditions over the years. VPAH is the only place we feel comfortable leaving any of our pets on the rare occasion when we need to board. They also have good relationships with some of the rescue groups in town.
